Have You Heard?

Tuesday Night Residency

Can't get enough of the tunes?  Soul Alley will be at their favorite BBQ joint in Brighton every Tuesday Night in September.  Stop by Smoken Joe's to check out the band jamming their tunes with special guests each week.  See you there.

Soul Alley on Main Stage of Keene Music Festival

Soul Alley will be performing on the Main Stage of the Keene Music Festival this year.  As part of the ramped up efforts gearing up for the CD release at the House of Blues, the band will be performing many songs from the disc.  be sure to bring your lawn chairs, picnic blankets and enjoy the grooving jams.

Soul Alley featured in Smoken Joe's Review

Regulars at Smoken’ Joe’s are already familiar with a beautiful and powerful new singer named Alley Stoetzel. Since first visiting the restaurant last winter Alley has joined almost every regular band here for a song or two. She has sung with some of our favorite musicians including The Gumbo Kings, Alizon, Muzik Makerz, Philip Pemberton, and recently the Luke Mulholland Band. If you have not seen Alley sing, you are in for a wonderful surprise. Alley is an amazing and gifted performer and the story of her start down this road is priceless.

When Alley was 5 years old she suffered from terrible insomnia. Rather than passing the time reading or playing with toys like an average child, Alley would sing. That’s right, for hours and hours she would sing. According to Alley, several neighbors could hear her and they never complained. With encouragement like that her parents signed her up for piano lessons. At age 8 they got her a voice coach and there was no stopping her.

In high school she played acoustic guitar reciting songs by Joan Baez, Bob Dylan and The Grateful Dead. During four years of voice training at the Berklee School of Music, Alley’s tastes gravitated first towards blues and

then toward soul, particularly old-school soul and hidden classics. Today Alley describes her music as neo-soul/retro R&B. In her music you will hear echoes of blues masters voiced with a new vibe and spirit that is pure Alley.

Come hear Alley and her band, Soul Alley, perform this coming Friday, August 13th when she will be part of our Allstar Review with Gracie Curran. Smoken’ Joe’s regulars who have heard Alley sing with other bands will be impressed when they realize this singer is ready to entertain for a full evening. Her band, formed with friend and veteran drummer, Justin Oliver, is electrifying and precise. Together they have crafted a set that showcases the range and depth of this remarkable rising star. You will also hear some of Alley’s original compositions like the soulful “Tell Me You’re My Guy” and the hard funk hit, “Had Me Going.”

If you miss the August 13th show Alley and her band will be performing every Tuesday at Smoken’ Joe’s during the month of September. In October her first CD, Public Alley 421, will be available following the release party at the House of Blues Foundation Room.
